RENO, Nev (KRNV) — The Reno City Council has donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross of Northern Nevada. The funds will be used exclusively to help cover costs of short-term housing and other resources for people displaced by housefires. "The American Red Cross is fulfilling an important role in our community," says councilmember Jenny Brekhus. "Showing up for Reno families in their darkest hour and making sure they have somewhere to go immediately after, no matter their financial situation.' In the last year, the Northern Nevada Red Cross Disaster Action Team has responded to more than 120 single-family house fires and over 30 multi-family fires.
